Benjamin was academically trained in Sociology (BA) and Social & Political Thought (MA) at the University of Leeds. His research practice was honed under the tutelage of the globally renowned Bauman Institute, where he specialized in Social Theory and Digital Culture.
Grounded in the tradition of Humanist Sociology, Benjamin rejects the notion of 'value-neutral' research. He upholds the tenets of Critical Realism—arguing that to understand a community, one must advocate for its agency. His work applies Zygmunt Bauman’s concept of 'Liquid Modernity' to the digital age, examining how ethics and human connection survive in a world of constant flux.
Beyond the traditional academy, Benjamin is a committed proponent of open-source knowledge. He holds an Honorary PhD in Memetics from Abide University, recognizing his extensive contributions to open-access social theory.
"A practitioner of 'Gonzo Sociology,' he publishes contemporary theory on AI and Digital Culture for professional bodies and governmental think-tanks, bridging the gap between high theory and the digital street corner."
